Authentic Irish Recipe - Black Irish Bread Recipe

Black Irish Bread Recipe

The following needs to soak overnight
in a large bowl:
1 cup of black tea
1 cup of dried mixed fruit
1 cup of dark brown sugar
The next morning, stir by hand very well.

Then add 2 cups of self rising flour
1 well beaten egg
mix well

pour into a well greased loaf pan.
bake 1 1/2 hours on middle shelf at 300 degrees

I know its difficult :)
but try to let it cool before slicing.
when cool - slice & serve

variations:
plain w/ just butter
or
cream cheese
or
your favorite preserves

`Keeps well in a totally airtight container
