Old Fashioned Honey Apples Recipe

Old Fashioned Honey Apples Recipe
original recipe - pre civil war

6 medium sized apples
6 Tablespoons honey
6 tsp butter
1 cup hot water

Pare and core the apples, place in a dripping pan.
Fill the center of each apple with first 1 Tablespoon of honey and then 1 tsp of butter.
Add 1 cup of hot water to pan.
Cover the pan, and set in a rather quick oven.
When the water begins to boil, reduce heat and continue cooking covered.
Turn the apples occasionally.
A few minutes before the apples are done, remove the cover to let the apples brown slightly.

Serve with a dollup of whipped cream.
